Peninsular Malaysia’s transportation network is diverse with extensive roadways stretching over 63,445km, including 1,630km of expressways. Its main highway extends over 800km, from the Thai border all the way to Singapore.

Buses and taxis are the most popular form of transportation. Express buses and regional buses connect many towns and cities to each other. Buses connecting towns and cities charge fares according to the distance covered.

Taxis are the most widely and easily available form of transportation. City taxis operate by meter and may be hired from taxi stands, hailed by roadside or called through a radiophone paging system. There are also minivan-type taxis for carrying larger parties.

Light Rapid Transit (LRT) and KL Monorail provide inner-city public transportation for Kuala Lumpur, serving businesses, hotels and shopping districts, as well as major parts of greater Kuala Lumpur. Fares are more affordable than taxis and will connect with other LRT and train networks at KL Sentral.

KLIA Ekspres

The fastest way to travel to and from the airport is the new KLIA Ekspres. This non-stop service takes less than 30 minutes and ends at KL Sentral. Cost is RM35 each way.

Climate
Malaysia’s climate is tropical, high both in temperature and humidity. Temperatures are approximately 32 to 36 degrees Celsius (89 to 97 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day, while nights are somewhat cooler at 22 to 24 degrees Celsius (71 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit) in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia Standard Time (MYT) is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Electricity
Voltage is 220 to 240 Volt AC at 50 cycles per second, adaptable to standard 3-pin square plugs and sockets.
